The Best Lingual Braces in Los Angeles:
Why BHO Prefers InBrace Over Others
Merriam-Webster’s Definition Lingual (Adjective): of, relating to, or resembling the tongue lying near or next to the tongue
Lingual braces realign teeth using the same principles as traditional braces.
Your orthodontist attaches brackets to your teeth, threads an archwire through each bracket, and then uses the archwire to apply pressure onto the brackets to gradually move teeth. After 6-12 months of this process, your orthodontist removes the braces to reveal your perfect smile.
However, lingual braces differ from conventional metal and ceramic braces in one major way: they are affixed to the back of the teeth, facing the tongue, rather than in front of the teeth, facing the cheeks.
This positioning makes lingual braces impossible for others to see unless they stare directly into your open mouth. Not even Invisalign is that discreet!
InBrace isn’t just another form of lingual braces: it’s a direct improvement upon lingual braces of the past. From the treatment planning software to the brackets and wires themselves, every InBrace element has been optimized to move teeth more efficiently—and more inconspicuously—than conventional lingual braces.
Patients that choose InBrace over other lingual braces benefit from:
InBrace’s Digital Tools: InBrace treatments are planned with 3D imaging software. Once BHO has scanned your mouth, the software creates the ideal treatment for you and programs your Smartwire® to make the proper movements.
Fewer Appointments: Conventional lingual brace archwires need to be tightened by an orthodontist every 4-6 weeks. InBrace Smartwires® are made from shape-memory materials, which enables them to move teeth without monthly tightenings. As a result, InBrace patients only need to visit the orthodontist every 8-10 weeks rather than every 4-6 weeks.
Quicker Treatment Times: InBrace Smartwires® move teeth more efficiently than conventional archwires. This can shave months off of your projected treatment time.
Is InBrace Right For You?
- Maintain a bracket- and wire-free appearance
- Minimize their monthly orthodontist visits
- Obtain quick results
- Avoid working with clear aligners
From a care-provider perspective, InBrace simply isn’t able to correct severe misalignment problems. Although InBrace can efficiently correct mild-to-moderate crowding and alignment issues, the system is not designed to treat severe or complex problems. If you struggle with extensive alignment issues, you will not qualify for InBrace treatment.
InBrace patients also face certain drawbacks as well, including:
- Dietary restrictions, including sticky, hard, tough, and overly crunchy foods. As with conventional braces, certain foods can damage InBrace brackets and dislodge the Smartwire®. Prohibited foods include gummy candy, nuts, carrots, and whole apples.
- Altered oral care routines, especially flossing. InBrace patients must learn to brush and floss around the brackets and Smartwire® to keep their gums and teeth healthy enough for treatment.
- Rigid care plans that offer little room for treatment pivots. With conventional braces, if your teeth begin moving unexpectedly, your orthodontist can make some quick adjustments to put treatment back on track. Smartwires® move on their own, so your orthodontist isn’t able to make swift mid-treatment adjustments. Instead, they will have to create and install a new Smartwire®—a process that can take weeks to complete.
